CAE runs in families

CAE, like heart disease, diabetes or asthma runs in families, but sometimes it skips whole generations and other times it appears very strongly in a single family, affecting several family members.

The Study

We will compare patients with absence to healthy members of their family as well as to other healthy people without seizures or a family history of seizures.

Success could mean:

Development of new treatments that act directly on the symptoms of CAE rather than just suppressing them.
Development of new treatments with fewer side effects
A way to predict who is most at risk for developing the disease.
Better counseling and care for future CAE patients.
